Parent Meeting and Volunteer Requirements

Hi Parents!

I hoped for a beautiful, sunny day to start swim practice, but Mother Nature had other plans. Remember to have a warm towel for your kids once they get out of the pool.

Parent Meeting: We will hold parent meetings today on the patio for a few minutes during the 6 and under practice as well as the 7-8 practice. If your family is new to the team, it is important for an adult from your household to attend.

Meet your volunteer coordinators:

Sheri Gushta and Whitney Wholley are happy to be your swim team volunteer coordinators this season. Parents play a huge role in our meets! In order for the meets to run smoothly, we need to have all jobs filled for every meet. Jobs have changed a bit from last year because of our new timing system. Please take a look at the descriptions, even if you are a veteran parent. Descriptions can be found here: https://edenwilde.swimtopia.com/signup-instructions

Volunteer Expectations:

  1. For every meet your child(ren) swims, an adult or responsible older teen from your family needs to volunteer for one job shift/half a meet. Each shift runs half a meet, meaning Shift 1 covers events 1-43 and Shift 2 is event 44-end (80ish). However, please do not sign up teens for the bullpen.
  2. If you know you have a conflict for one of the meets but still want your child to swim, please reach out to Whitney and Sheri to make arrangements.
  3. The Swimtopia website enables us to run job reports so we know who is/isn't volunteering. If you do not volunteer two meets in a row, your child will not be allowed to swim in the next meet. We really don't want to enact this rule, so please sign up!
  4. Volunteer sign-ups will close on Tuesdays, when swimmer declaration closes. If something comes up and you are unable to volunteer, you must contact Sheri or Whitney ASAP!
  5. Most volunteers need to arrive at 5pm which is 30 minutes before the meet begins, however, first shift bullpen and a few other jobs need to arrive when the swimmers report to the pool (4pm for home meets/4:30 for away meets), so read the job descriptions carefully.
  6. At the beginning of each meet, you will sign in at the volunteer table. We will provide any materials you need and tell you where to go. Although we will be at the check-in table during shift change, please check in when you arrive, even if you are working the 2nd shift. Notify us if you will arrive late.

Volunteer sign-ups for the entire season will go live Sunday, May 19th at 8pm. This includes sign-ups for time trials, which are next week, 5/22! We strongly recommend reviewing the job descriptions beforehand so you have an idea of what you'd like to do. If you have any questions about a job, don't hesitate to reach out to Sheri (703-505-5660) or Whitney (770-289-1274).

We are looking forward to a fun swim season!
